Depending on your procedure—cosmetic restorations, crowns, bridges, extractions, or fillings—you may experience temporary sensitivity, soreness, or numbness. Mild pain relievers such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen, warm saltwater rinses, and careful eating of soft foods can help with recovery. Avoid hard, sticky, or staining foods, and follow any instructions for temporary crowns, night guards, or mouthguards if provided.
After tooth extractions, allow a blood clot to form by biting on gauze for 30-45 minutes. Avoid rinsing, smoking, drinking alcohol, using straws, or brushing near the extraction site for 72 hours. Swelling is normal and can be minimized with ice packs. Resume gentle oral hygiene after 24 hours, and follow prescribed medications carefully. Contact our office immediately if you experience heavy bleeding, severe pain, or swelling that persists beyond a couple of days.
After crowns, bridges, or composite fillings, your teeth may be temporarily sensitive to hot, cold, or pressure. Chewing is safe once numbness wears off. If you notice uneven bite, persistent discomfort, or other concerns, contact us so we can adjust your restoration as needed. Regular brushing, flossing, and follow-up visits are essential for long-term success.
